Would a basic income grant benefit the arts?

The coronavirus crisis has decimated income streams for many working in the arts and culture sector, particularly freelancers and independent contractors.  Many of government’s relief packages exclude workers in this sector and even those that do include them, require tax certificates and other bureaucratic means testing for them to qualify.  Other social sectors have campaigned for a Universal Basic Income Grant to reduce poverty and to provide some economic security to each individual.  Should artists join the campaign for a Basic Income Grant?
