At the end of 2020, the Im4theArts Arts Education working group, which had been meeting regularly to share developments in the field, launched the TakaThuto21 campaign which intends to safeguard our youth’s potential through creativity.
We believe that the arts should be available to everyone, everywhere, and the best place to begin is in every school, and every curriculum. The arts should be integral to all learning, since they serve as a basis for the development of the most sought-after skills demanded by the 21st century. For this reason, we believe that learning in, through and with Creative Arts is integral to ensuring that our young people are ready to live and work within the paradigm of the 4th Industrial Revolution, and to tackle the biggest challenges of the era, including climate change, social justice issues and inequality.
The working group has invited interested members to sign up as Ambassadors for the campaign. We will be calling a meeting for Thursday 15th April at 16h00 of all prospective Ambassadors, to update them in the latest developments and to consider particularly how the arts have been de-prioritised by education under COVID-19 and what to do about it.
